Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Post-Surgical Acute Care

Join our Post-Surgical Acute Care team and provide compassionate, hands-on care to post-operative and medically complex patients as they recover and prepare for discharge. What You'll Do
- Provide direct patient care to post-surgical and medically complex patients.
- Monitor patient status and promptly communicate changes in condition to the care team.
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, and assist with management of surgical drains and NG tubes.
- Administer medications and treatments within the LPN scope of practice.
- Assist with tube feedings, anticoagulant therapy, and other specialized treatments.
- Support pain management plans and promote patient comfort throughout recovery.
- Reinforce patient and family education regarding medications, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions.
- Collaborate with RNs, providers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
- Accurately document patient care, treatments, and responses in the electronic medical record.
- Promote patient safety and contribute to positive patient outcomes and experiences.
What We're Looking For
- Education:
High School Diploma or GED, required. Graduate of accredited Practical Nursing Program, required. - Experience:
One year of relevant experience, preferred. - Licensure/Certification:
Appropriate state LPN license, required. NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required. CPI certification within 3 months of hire for Behavioral Health departments, required. - Additional Skills (required):
Computer skills, phone call etiquette and organizational skills. Ability to comprehend policies and procedures and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team. Behavioral Health units' requirements only Ability to intervene in a therapeutic manner for behavior patterns demonstrated by patients with a mental illness, personality disorder, substance abuse or developmental disabilities. Knowledge of psychiatric medications, side effects and treatment interventions, knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis, mental health concepts, and evidence based therapeutic interventions and treatments.
CPI certification within three months. Ability to establish and maintain control of violent patients, defend self and others against violent assaults, ability to react appropriately in psychiatric crises, ability use violent and non-violent restraints per policy and procedure.
