American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric RN for a Hematology/Oncology unit requiring a NC or compact RN license and at least 1 year of pediatric hem/onc or pediatric acute care experience.
Details- Work in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Pediatric Adolescent units of a Level 1 Trauma, academic medical center
- Unit has 16 beds on PHO and 16 beds on PA, averaging 14-32 patients per day
- Patient population includes leukemia, solid tumors, sickle cell crisis, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, behavioral health overlay, and general adolescent medicine
- RN to patient ratio of 1:4-5 on Peds Adolescent Medicine, CNA ratio of 1:6-16
- Bedside telemetry monitoring with no dedicated tele tech available
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing system
- Night shift schedule, , 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required between PA, PHO, and other Brenner units, excluding Peds ED
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- BLS required; PALS preferred for PA unit
- Minimum 1 year of pediatric hematology/oncology acute care experience required for PHO, or 1 year of pediatric acute care experience for PA
- Minimum 12 months of core work experience in the unit specialty area, with most recent experience within the last year
- Skilled in central line management and chemotherapy administration
- Strong pediatric assessment and critical thinking skills required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Provide direct patient care including central line management, chemotherapy administration, and pediatric assessment
- Support team includes CNAs, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage 24/7
- Unit culture is team-oriented, supportive, and family-centered with emphasis on professional growth, education, and safety
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) and 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
- Scrub color is royal blue; pediatric-appropriate scrub tops permitted
- Free parking available on-site
- First-time travelers considered if they have a strong pediatric background
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius to be eligible
- Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
