Leidos is seeking a Senior Substation Physical Engineer to lead the design and modernization of high-voltage substations supporting critical infrastructure clients. In this role, you will develop physical layout and equipment specifications, perform grounding and lightning protection design, and ensure NESC/IEEE compliance. You will collaborate with multi disciplinary IT and engineering teams, mentor junior engineers, and support digital design tools and standards.

Responsibilities
- Lead physical design of high voltage substations including layouts, equipment arrangement, and bus configurations
- Develop construction drawings, bills of material, and technical specifications using CAD/BIM tools
- Perform grounding, lightning protection, and raceway design in accordance with NESC and IEEE standards
- Ensure compliance with client, utility, and regulatory requirements and support internal quality reviews
- Coordinate closely with protection & control, civil/structural, and IT/system engineering teams
- Support digital design workflows, model management, and integration with enterprise engineering tools
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and peer reviews for junior engineers and designers
- Participate in proposals, estimates, and schedule development for substation projects
- Support field questions during construction and perform occasional site visits as needed
- Contribute to continuous improvement of standards, templates, and best practices for substation design
