Work Objective

Under general supervision of the Facilities Coordinator, performs a variety of duties during events and programs at City owned and operated rental and recreation facilities.

Essential Functions

Responsible for opening and closing of facility during specified rental times.

Perform light custodial duties; set up and break down of equipment, maintain cleanliness of equipment and facilities. May be necessary to vacuum, mop, sweep, empty trash, re-stock restrooms, etc.

During rental events, be available to answer questions and resolve problems while consistently monitoring all building operations.

Assure that all policies and procedures are followed per the facility rental contract.

Respond appropriately to all facility renter requests.

Required to check the following prior to each facility rental:
Room set-up, lights, and temperature.

Monitor clean-up of the facility by the facility renter. Make certain the facility renter leaves the facility clean and in acceptable condition.

Operate electronic equipment (projector, CD player, microphone, projection screen, etc.) as needed.

Assure that all City-owned equipment (i.e. tables, chairs) are kept inside the rental facility.

Complete all other duties as assigned by the Facilities Coordinator and Recreation Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred and at least 18 years of age.

Must be able to deal with the public in a professional manner and have prior customer service experience.

Evening, weekend, and holiday work hours are required.

Bilingual is preferred, but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to effectively communicate, in writing and verbally, with staff and rental clients in a courteous and professional manner.

Ability to interpret and enforce rules and regulations of the Parks and Recreation Department in a uniform, consistent and tactful manner.

Ability to handle complaints, emergencies, stressful situations, and large groups of people.

Regular and predictable attendance.

Ability to utilize certain hand tools and light power tools.

Ability to carry out written and verbal instructions.

Ability to read diagrams and be attentive to details.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

Tasks involve the intermittent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 50 pounds).

Primarily involve work indoors. Some outside work involves monitoring grounds around facility, parking areas and patio when rented. Includes exposure to unsanitary conditions, odors, cleaning chemicals and moderate noise levels.
