Collects, enters and processes water and sewer infrastructure data into the City's asset management system, while keeping up to date with the latest asset management techniques and strategies. Takes calls regarding utility system repairs to coordinate work orders within City crews, and assists with the materials, inventory, and warehouse functions necessary to support utility operations, maintenance, and work orders.
Assists the general public and department personnel with managing work orders and utility assets. Uses Cartegraph software to log, track, and process work orders, manage asset data (including water plants, wastewater plants, lift stations, pipes, manholes, fire hydrants, valves, meters), generate reports, and train staff on the City’s utility asset management system and procedures. Takes calls from the general public, other departments, and within the Water Department regarding system repairs, maintenance to the utility system, and construction work being performed.
Communicates with City crews regarding work orders that need to be completed and coordinates with the Customer Service Division on completed work orders and meter installs and data for billing. Contributes to financial planning and budget preparation for utility assets, collaborating with other City departments and outside agencies to collect information on the rehabilitation, repair, or replacement of utility assets.
Analyzes data to prioritize the operation and maintenance of utility assets while also maintaining high customer service levels.
Enters internally and externally generated work orders for water and wastewater field staff, and coordinates material, equipment, and personnel requirements for projects and work orders. Coordinates the availability of materials and supplies needed to complete utility work orders, maintenance activities, and projects. Assists with the Water Department’s warehouse and inventory functions as part of overall utility asset and work order support, including organization, cleanliness, inventory control, routine inventory counts, stock levels, material ordering, and tracking of supplies and equipment.
Fulfills internal material and supply requests submitted by department staff and ensures materials are properly issued, recorded, and maintained in inventory. Works with external vendors to obtain materials, supplies, and equipment needed for utility operations and projects; establishes professional vendor relationships and seeks competitive pricing and purchasing options. Maintains accurate records of materials, supplies, and equipment ordered and received and works closely with the Fiscal Team to ensure expenditures are properly tracked and remain within approved budgets.
