Summary:
The Assistant Nurse Manager is a leadership position with direct and indirect patient care responsibilities. Working in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, Director of Nursing (DON) and the Health Center Administrator (HCA), this role develops systems of care to foster a successful clinical care team environment and ensure optimal patient outcomes. The primary responsibility is directing daily clinical support staff activities toward safe, high quality, and efficient primary care for a diverse patient population.
Secondary responsibilities include providing direct nursing care. Requires strong leadership and communication skills and substantial knowledge of family medicine primary care nursing, including pediatrics and obstetrics and gynecology.

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing - Experience:
Must be a Registered Nurse with at least two (2) years’ experience preferred or a Licensed Practical Nurse with at least three (3) years’ experience preferred - Licensure:
Florida license - BLS certification

- Be familiar with CFHC’s program philosophies, goals and objectives; comply with CFHC policies and procedures, and state and federal regulations.
- Be competent in performing the duties of a nurse.
- Understand the requirements of CFHC’s Exposure Control Plan; utilize universal precautions in clinical settings.
- Participate in staff outreach and off-site health care programs as requested by the DON, CMO, or CEO; represent CFHC in the community.
- Report to the Nurse Manager and DON any information or situations that impact patient care or CFHC liability.
- Attend and participate in mandatory CFHC meetings and other designated meetings.
- Demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with the clinical team and support coworkers.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance; carry out other activities as deemed appropriate by leadership.
- Ensure the practice of nursing within CFHC is of the highest possible quality, in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, QIRM and DON.
- Assist with assignment of clinical and administrative duties to clinical support staff, including triage duties, room preparation, instrument sterilization, and inventory management.
- Coordinate patient flow by addressing scheduling difficulties, walk-ins, late patients, and emergencies.
- Determine clinical support staffing requirements, including coverage for sick time and vacations.
- Conduct periodic assessments of clinical staff performance and maintain logs and audits (e.g., hospital, temperature, medication/vaccine administration, OB intake).
- Maintain applicable skills and policies (e.g., universal precautions, needle disposal, medication disposal, standing orders).
- Conduct periodic clinical support staff meetings and forward agenda/minutes to the DON and HCA.
- Identify educational needs and provide regular in-service education in coordination with the DON.
- Support quarterly proficiency testing and annual evaluations of clinical support staff in collaboration with the Nurse Manager and DON; share evaluations with DON and HR.
- Keep leadership informed of significant nursing issues and policy/procedure changes.
- Assist in reviewing resumes/credentials and interviewing clinical support staff with HR and DON; coordinate orientation and training of new staff.
- Perform monthly Environment of Care center audits (EOC and safety inspections) and maintain current credentials for staff on file with HR.
- Assist in coordination of nursing assignments for intern students and carry out other duties as assigned.
- Function as a professional nurse member of the health team under leadership of the Nurse Manager and DON.
- Make nursing assessments and triage patient health status appropriately.
- Provide nursing coverage in clinic emergencies in conjunction with the DON and other Nurse Managers.
