Nextran is seeking a Service Advisor for our fast paced commercial truck repair center. The candidate will possess a strong technical background and excellent communication skills to effectively interact with customers and other employees.
Duties and Responsibilities- Ascertains Class 8 truck problems and services by listening to customers' descriptions.
- Conducts vehicle inspections.
- Checks vehicle maintenance records.
- Examines service schedules.
- Verifies warranty and service contract coverage by reviewing records and documents, and communicating the provisions and exclusions.
- Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor.
- Calculates customer's payment, including deductibles.
- Prepares repair orders (ROs) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered and the required repairs and services.
- Obtains customer’s approval signatures.
- Enters RO into the service database system.
- Maintains customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of the vehicle.
- Addresses questions and concerns that customers may have.
- Arranges towing and temporary transportation.
- Maintains records by documenting problems and planned corrective actions.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading manufacturers' publications.
- Other duties, as assigned.
- Minimum three years of experience in the heavy-duty truck industry.
- Ability to solve problems and deal with various variables in situations with only limited resources.
- Ability to interpret multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

- Computer proficiency:
Microsoft 365, Outlook, Karmak, ASSIT. - Bilingual:
English & Spanish is a plus.
- Three years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with Mack and/or Volvo Trucks preferred.
- Frequently walk, climb, and balance.
- Occasionally required to stand and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to climb in and out and park heavy-duty vehicles.
