Responsible for setting curb pins, running string lines for curb machine placement, and shaping and finishing multiple curb types by hand. The role requires experience with curb machine operations, ensuring quality workmanship in the placement and finishing of concrete curbs. Work includes reading blueprints, measuring and cutting materials, setting forms, pouring concrete, and applying finishing techniques to achieve required textures and durability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Experience in setting curb pins and running string lines for accurate curb machine placement.
  • Demonstrated ability to shape and finish various curb types by hand.
  • Operate and maintain curb machines for efficient concrete placement.
  • Assist in placing and finishing concrete curbs to meet project specifications.
  • Work with rebar and reinforcement techniques as required for curb installation.
  • Ensure smooth and uniform curb finishes by handling burrs and rough edges.
  • Follow safety procedures and industry best practices to maintain a secure work environment.

Education and/or

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of related experience.
  • Experience with setting up and operating curb machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, job layouts, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in concrete forming, pouring, and finishing techniques.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Communication Skills
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to calculate measurements, slopes, and material quantities accurately.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work on weekends as needed.
  • Ability to travel to job sites as required.
  • Ability to work long hours in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, stoop, bend, and crouch as required.
  • Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50-90 pounds personally, and up to 150 pounds with assistance.
  • Maintain constant alertness to multiple concurrent activities on the construction site.
  • Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.
  • Sufficient skill and visual acuity, under varying degrees of light, darkness, and weather conditions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • The work environment periodically exposes employees to high noise levels, grease, and dust associated with a construction project.
  • Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
  • Work may involve exposure to substances commonly found on construction sites, such as oil, grease, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as required by OSHA and/or MSHA regulations.
