Weekend Morning Anchor/Reporter

WESH 2 News, the Hearst‑owned NBC affiliate in Orlando, is searching for a dynamic Weekend Morning Anchor/Reporter who brings energy to live reporting, mentors newsroom staff, and delivers compelling stories on air and in the field.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver scripted and ad‑lib material with professionalism, personality, and purpose.
  • Work with and guide reporters and producers in newscast production.
  • Plan, gather, and assemble stories on day‑of news or special project assignments.
  • Collaborate with a photographer to gather and edit compelling video and captivating sound.
  • Coordinate with news managers and producers to develop stories that go beyond surface details, accentuate unique enterprise angles, and include exclusive content.
  • Develop a network of sources to provide tips, early access to information, and help break stories of significance.
  • Appear on behalf of the station at public events.
  • Provide pictures, video, and text updates to mobile platforms throughout the day.
  • Juggle multiple stories and projects simultaneously, demonstrating exceptional time‑management skills and meeting all deadlines under extraordinary pressure.
  • Maintain unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
  • Summarize information into easy‑to‑understand components.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of anchor experience.
  • 2+ years of reporting experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to enterprise and uncover stories.
  • Demo reel that showcases everyday work.
  • Anchor who connects with viewers and possesses strong reporting skills.
  • Operate mobile transmission devices and use latest technology.
  • Work in all weather conditions, varied shifts including overnights and weekends, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license; able to drive large vehicles over long distances and maintain a clear driving record.
  • Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
  • Handle the stresses and pressures of time‑sensitive newscast production.
  • Related military experience considered.
