Position Summary

Trinity Prep is seeking an experienced educator for a full‑time learning specialist to provide support primarily for students with learning differences in grades 9 through 12, and promote academic success for all students in the Upper School.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret psych‑educational testing and medical reports, create Individual Accommodation Plans for each diagnosed student and update them every three years or as needed.
  • Observe and evaluate students displaying academic or behavioral difficulties and assess learning strengths and challenges.
  • Provide individualized and small‑group instruction in grades 9‑12 in consultation with faculty and divisional leadership.
  • Partner with Upper School administration, college counseling, and other support staff to implement accommodations and advance student learning.
  • Participate in classroom instruction as needed and maintain continuity of curriculum.
  • Meet regularly with Division Heads and support teams to review student needs.
  • Develop and track a roster of students requiring individualized support.
  • Lead and attend student support meetings and other appropriate meetings.
  • Stay abreast of current research on learning, study skills, and learning differences.
  • Initiate and schedule parent conferences.
  • Collaborate with administrators and department chairs to evaluate and revise the academic support program.
  • Maintain confidential student records and accurate documentation of sessions.
  • Attend committee, department, and instructional support staff meetings and school‑sponsored events.
  • Collaborate to develop a standard operating procedures manual with the Learning Support Team.
  • Pursue professional development to remain current with industry trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising administrator.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution (Doctoral degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years prior Upper School teaching experience in independent schools, with a strong background in curriculum and instruction.
  • Knowledge of learning disabilities, psycho‑educational tests, reports, and assistive technology.
  • Experience administering and interpreting assessments and academic achievement data.
  • Experience analyzing data to impact student learning and success.
  • Ability to handle confidential material with discretion and sensitivity.
  • Proven success as a leader in program development.
  • High degree of self‑management and initiative with continuous communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Full understanding of differentiated instructional strategies across the curriculum.
  • Strong networking skills to access community resources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication; exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must pass a Jessica Lunsford Level II background check and drug test.
Certifications Required
  • CPR/AED/First Aid (can be obtained upon hiring).
