Fraternity & Sorority Life Leadership Development & Community Engagement Graduate Assistant

The Graduate Assistant for Fraternity & Sorority Life supports the development of leadership initiatives, educational programs, and community-wide events within Fraternity & Sorority Life. This position also assists with creating meaningful learning experiences for fraternity and sorority leaders, coordinating signature programs, managing event registration processes, and assessing student engagement and learning outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities and Expectations
1. Leadership Development & Education
  • Develop and facilitate leadership and educational opportunities for fraternity and sorority members.
  • Support the creation of leadership programming for chapter officers, new members, and general members.
  • Facilitate officer round tables, workshops, and educational initiatives designed to enhance student leadership and organizational education and effectiveness.
  • Assist with developing resources and learning experiences that support leadership growth within the fraternity and sorority community.
  • Dialogue Series.
  • Co‑advise governing councils.
2. Community Engagement & Signature Initiatives
  • Serve as the primary coordinator for FSL programs and community-wide events (e.g., Informational Sessions, Greek Week, Welcome Week, Educational Programs, Community Service Initiatives, etc.). Provide support to the Interfraternity Council (IFC) and College Panhellenic Council (CPC) in the coordination and implementation of council-sponsored programs, initiatives, and events.
  • Coordinate the annual Fraternity & Sorority Life Greek Awards, including the nomination process, award review procedures, and event logistics.
  • Assist with the coordination and evaluation of the annual Community Commitments Review (CCR) process.
  • Support large‑scale campus events on behalf of the department.
3. Event Management Support
  • Manage event registration and event planning processes for fraternity and sorority organizations.
  • Provide guidance and communication to student leaders regarding event planning procedures, compliance, timelines, and organizational expectations.
  • Coordinate with campus partners regarding event logistics when appropriate.
  • Maintain and update departmental event calendars with accurate records of registered events and event documentation.
4. Additional Expectations
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to fraternity and sorority student leaders.
  • Support evening and weekend programs as needed.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and training as available.
  • Collaborate effectively with campus partners, students, alumni, and advisors.
  • Stay informed of emerging trends and best practices in fraternity and sorority life and student engagement.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Membership or previous experience in fraternity and sorority life is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience through student organizations, campus involvement, fraternity or sorority life, or comparable experiences.
  • Experience planning and implementing campus events, leadership programs, or large‑scale initiatives.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Highly motivated individual with good interpersonal, organizational, and time‑management skills.
  • Willingness to work evening and/or weekend hours as needed.

Education Requirement:
The incumbent must be actively enrolled in a graduate degree‑seeking program in Higher Education, Student Affairs, College Student Personnel, Educational Leadership, or a similar program, and must remain actively enrolled for the duration of employment.

Employment Dates

August 4, 2026 – May 28, 2027

Work Schedule

The GA is responsible for dedicating 900 hours to this position. The scheduled work hours will be arranged each semester in agreement with the supervisor of this position. Although not a requirement, the GA may also work an occasional late afternoon/evening slot to accommodate programming initiatives.

Pay Rate
