Overview
The Medical Assistant/Allergy Tech position is responsible for rendering professional care within the medical practice in support of and as directed by the physicians. They will also have general responsibilities to assist in the day-to-day operation of this office. This position will be based out of one clinic but travel to other locations is to be expected.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Accurately prepare allergy vials for injections by using two patient verifiers.
- Administer allergy injections.
- Uses two patient identifiers before treating or testing patients.
- Test and treat patients for allergy-related problems in a caring manner.
- Assist physicians and physician assistants as needed to ensure good patient flow.
- When needed, assist front office staff in scheduling allergy patients. Schedule should result in efficient patient flow and high patient satisfaction.
- Responsible for accurately maintaining allergy supplies and inventories in a timely manner.
- Responsible for weekly maintenance of allergy testing equipment.
- Place the patients in the exam room to ensure they are as comfortable as possible. Obtain vital signs, enter the information into the patient’s chart, accurately complete medication reconciliation.
- Screens telephone calls for the physicians or physician assistants as needed. Take accurate clinical messages within the limits of his/her knowledge and practice policy.
- May answer patient inquiries with respect to medical questions within the limits of knowledge and practice policy and tasks the provider in the electronic health record as necessary.
- Ensure that all equipment in the exam room is clean and properly set up prior to each patient encounter and after the last visit of the day.
- Ensure solutions are adequate for antigen multi-well and s.
- Accurately record refrigerator temperatures and document corrective action as assigned.
- Ensure lights are not burned out.
- Check emergency kit (if applicable).
- Conduct chart preparation 1 week in advance.
- Prepare new start immunotherapy packets for SLIT/SCIT.
- Utilize Allergy Edge to submit for mixing.
- Maintain strict confidentiality.
- Travel via personal vehicle to and from other ENTPSA clinics as needed.
- Answer telephone and either respond to inquiry or direct caller to appropriate personnel and add new note in electronic health record as necessary.

Education and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1 year of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language SkillsAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to patients, coworkers, and providers.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to measure millimeter-sized local reactions (wheels) using a metric ruler; able to calculate injection doses using addition; able to calculate drops in dosages using subtraction.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer SkillsTo perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of electronic health record;
Internet software;
Allergy Edge;
Word Processing software, Paylocity, and Email software.
