Westminster Winter Park, a premier Active Living Community located in the heart of Winter Park, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Nursing to lead our Nursing Services team. This leadership role oversees our 80‑bed skilled nursing facility and plays a key part in ensuring exceptional clinical care, regulatory compliance, and a supportive environment for residents and staff.

JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Nursing is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all functions of the Nursing Services Department. This role ensures operations are conducted in full compliance with all current federal, state, and local regulations, as well as established standards and guidelines. The Director is accountable for maintaining the highest level of quality care and fostering an environment that supports excellence in resident outcomes and staff performance.

ESSENTIAL

JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Supervise staff which involves direct and indirect care.
  • Prepare and administer budget within fiscal guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain nursing care objectives and standards of nursing care practices.
  • Plan, organize, and direct effective administration of unit.
  • Assure residents of a comfortable, clean, orderly and safe environment.
  • Assist in the development of Resident Care Plans.
  • Maintain required records. Review, update, and revise policies including OSHA, HIPAA, and QA procedures to meet current objectives and State and Federal standards.
  • Comply with, support and ensure all company policies involving safety and infection control procedures including the proper use of mechanical lifts, gait belts, and PPE.
  • Ensure medication administered as ordered in accordance with nursing standards, company policies, and medical orders.
  • Monitor staff relations practices to ensure that employees maintain high morale and staff retention through effective communication, prompt problem resolution, positive supervisory practices, and a positive work environment.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Education/Training
  • Must be a Registered Nurse in good standing and currently licensed by the State of Florida.
  • BSN (4 year degree) from an accredited university or college preferred.
  • Must be CPR Certified.
Experience
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years experience as a staff nurse in a long term care in a supervisory position and a background in gerontology as well as strong leadership and management skills.
  • Must be able to relate positively to residents, families, and government regulators, and to work cooperatively with other associates at all levels.
  • Must have experience in performance management and effective leadership. Must have ability to complete multiple projects.
  • Must possess basic computer skills, including e‑mail use.
