Schedule and Location

Full-time, three 12‑hour shifts. Days, 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (with weekend rotation). 200 N Lakemont Ave, Winter Park, FL 32792.

Job Description Overview

The Surgical PCU is a 20‑bed private unit caring for high acuity medical and surgical patients. The unit includes state‑of‑the‑art equipment, ARJO/ceiling lifts, bikes, ocular equipment, and bariatric suites. The team has on‑site intensivist coverage 24/7 and a collaborative, multidisciplinary culture.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors of patients.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care, regularly evaluating and revising these plans as necessary.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions.
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and self‑care strategies to promote understanding and compliance.
  • Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate and optimize patient care, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Organizational and multi‑tasking skills.
  • Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures.
  • Ability to work as a team player within a unit.
  • Effective verbal and oral communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • EKG proficiency (as per unit requirements).
  • Fluent in English (read, verbal, and written).
  • Basic computer skills – Microsoft Windows‑based programs.
  • High level of abstract reasoning to assess patients, evaluate interventions, and revise plans of care.
Education
  • Associate’s of Nursing (Required).
  • Bachelor’s of Nursing (Preferred).
Field of Study
  • N/A.
Work Experience
  • 1+ year acute care hospital setting (Preferred).
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) (Required).
  • Basic Life Support – CPR (BLS) (Required).

$31.53 – $52.24
