Responsibilities- Assist with the daily operation of the Southern Tide retail store, including sales, customer service, and safeguarding store assets.
- Understand the overall Southern Tide concept—lifestyle, customer, merchandise—and present and sell merchandise consistently with the brand.
- Greet each customer and provide sales assistance to help them purchase merchandise.
- Know floor merchandise and suggest items appropriately.
- Provide merchandising suggestions to improve sales.
- Build a personal client book.
- Use the point‑of‑sale software system effectively, learning the system and troubleshooting in the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager.
- Perform routine register transactions, inventory receiving and transfers, and opening/closing of registers and store.
- Share current product knowledge with customers, providing prompt recommendations and professional service to enhance their shopping experience (e.g., fit, fashion, wardrobe advice).
- Participate actively in all store‑related meetings, working toward exceeding sales and service performance goals set by store management.
- Operate the store in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Provide ideas to grow and improve the business, including merchandising, staffing, floor displays, fixtures, advertising, promotion, hours of operation, or other ideas that may enhance growth.
- Safeguard store assets: maintain inventory integrity, prevent shrinkage to the reasonable extent, assist in cycle counts, and participate in year‑end physical inventory.
- Open/close registers and store in the absence of the manager or assistant manager.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2+ years of retail customer and sales experience.
- Initiative and self‑assurance to approach and comfortably sell to customers.
- High level of dedication, commitment, and initiative to operate a store dependably with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable operating an automated point‑of‑sale system.
- Detail orientation necessary for safeguarding store assets, including cash reconciliation and inventory management.
- Lift or move up to approximately 50 pounds frequently.
- Bending, stooping, and kneeling required – frequently.
- Climbing ladders – occasionally.
- Routine standing for the duration of shift (up to 8 hours).
- Ability to work varied hours and days, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
