Description
Makes major and minor mechanical repairs on a variety of gasoline, diesel, and electronic powered equipment. Inventories parts and supplies. Does related work as required, equipment maintenance and servicing.
ResponsibilitiesWORK PERFORMED:
Mechanic
- Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in golf course maintenance and construction equipment.
- Keeps records on repairs and maintenance.
- Instructs operators in use and servicing of powered equipment.
- Grinds, backlaps, sets and adjusts mowers.
- Maintains shop equipment and tools.
- Does welding.
- Inventories parts and materials.
- Makes field repairs.
- Maintains a preventative maintenance program on all powered equipment.
- May do body and paint work.
- Maintains shop in an orderly condition.
- Does related or other work as required.
- Test-operates repaired equipment.
- Troubleshoots and repairs hydraulic problems.
- Places safety procedures as number one priority.
- Effective communication with the Equipment Manager and Golf Course Superintendent.
WORK PERFORMED:
Course Maintenance Tech
- Operates golf course maintenance equipment including fairway mowers, ram lifts, sweepers, triplex, hand mowers and other equipment as needed.
- Washes equipment after each use.
- Inspects equipment periodically throughout the day.
- Becomes knowledgeable of the correct height of cut throughout the golf course.
- Must exercise proper etiquette around members and guests on the golf course.
- Does related or other work as required.
- Services and maintains equipment per schedule.
- Observes and reports turf or landscape problems to supervisor.
- Must ensure that all reels are cutting properly at all times.
- Must maintain and operate all equipment in a safe, efficient manner.
- Must report any machine malfunction to golf course mechanic or supervisor.
- Must check fuel and oil levels before leaving shop.
- Must fuel equipment up at the end of each use.
- Must use appropriate safety equipment.
