The purpose of the Office Assistant is to provide support for the administrative and office tasks necessary for the successful operation of the Office of Student Activities. By assisting with the workloads assigned to the Student Activities Administrative Assistant, the office may better support the professional staff and the programs and services that address the needs of the students, student organizations, and the university community.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Answer office phone; transfer calls for the office and occasionally serve as backup for the university switchboard, take messages by phone and in person.
- Schedule appointments as necessary.
- Identify and provide information for guests who walk in with questions.
- Knowledgeable of student organization processes (chartering, registering, lockers, equipment check in/out).
- Knowledgeable of student allocation processes.
- Able to answer questions about the space request system and the process for submitting/tracking requests.
- Knowledgeable of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs structure and processes.
- Filing of forms, documents, and budget records.
- Make deliveries to various campus offices.
- Maintain accurate timesheet through Wingspan, submitting before Payroll deadlines.
- Responsible money management practice for accepting cash/checks and writing receipts.
- Conduct various inventories of OSA supplies and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and neat work environment.
- Work in cooperation and coordination with other departments on campus.
- Other duties or special projects as needed.
- Must be a currently enrolled Winthrop University student.
- Minimum of 1-year job experience in a customer service field.
- Must have a minimum of a 2.25 GPA.
- Interpersonal skills required.
- Must have the ability to communicate clearly to patrons/customers.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must not be on academic or disciplinary probation.
- Marketing/creativity and data entry highly desired.
