Salary: $51,117 to $89,864 per year

The High School Mathematics Teacher provides learning experiences in mathematics, helps each student develop competence in basic mathematical skills and an understanding of the structure of mathematics, motivates each student to apply mathematical understanding and skills in solving practical problems, and encourages students to develop their special talents in the field of mathematics. The teacher reports to the principal.

• Provide learning experiences in Mathematics guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards, creating an environment conducive to student learning and involvement.
• Monitor student understanding and adjust instruction, materials, or assessments as needed.
• Evaluate, try innovative approaches, and refine instructional strategies, including effective use of available technologies to increase student learning, involvement, and confidence.
• Demonstrate appreciation for and sensitivity to the diversity among individuals, ensuring equitable opportunities for student learning.
• Maintain and improve professional competence through attendance at professional development events and self-generated activities meeting district expectations and re-certification requirements.
• Share responsibility for achieving goals and priorities of grade/team/department, building, and school district, attending all faculty and committee meetings as required and district-wide committees as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Licensed, or eligible for licensure in Mathematics 8-12 by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education.
• Meets all Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education standards for Highly Qualified Teacher.
• Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) from an accredited college or university in a related field.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to children and adults.
• Commitment to remain current in content knowledge and teaching strategies.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications that are in conformity with state certification requirements.
• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
