Salary Range: $28.00 - $32.00 hourly
Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Supervisor is responsible for ensuring quality and food safety measures. The role ensures adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, standard operating procedures, and specifications, effectively utilizes QA resources, and participates on management teams to provide information or direction on special projects while working cooperatively with other supervisors. Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the manager.
Requirements- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1 year experience working in a quality‑related field preferred
- Basic math skills
- Ability to lead/coach a crew and set an example for company values
- Ability to use measuring devices and troubleshoot lab equipment such as scales, thermometers, moisture meters, spectrophotometers, and refractometers
- Detail oriented
- Good documentation and reporting skills
- Effective communication (read, write, speak) in English
- Required to follow and support GMPs and food safety practices
- Effective use of a personal computer/tablet and associated applications
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and focus under stressful situations
- Weekend, night shift, and overtime may be necessary as workload demands
- Understands, follows, and enforces OSHA safety policies, HACCP, BRCGS, and GMP policies
- Enforces food safety and sanitation regulations in compliance with FSMA to ensure product safety and quality is maintained site‑wide
- Ensures products meet quality specifications and food safety standards through monitoring and regular inspections
- Addresses potential food safety hazards and communicates as needed; works with management and QA staff to resolve quality and food safety issues
- Promotes a food safety culture by implementing goals and achieving food quality objectives
- Develops and improves inspection methods and recommends procedure improvements to increase efficiency; maintains quality and sanitation programs
- Updates SOPs and internal/customer documents when necessary
- Verifies label accuracy during production and corrects minor non‑system label errors; escalates all label creation, format changes, customer‑specific changes, or system‑level issues to the Day Shift QA Supervisor or Quality Manager
- Maintains and calibrates equipment for optimum performance; performs routine equipment tests to ensure familiarity with testing protocols
- Performs walkthroughs and foreign material audits using Red Zone; conducts follow‑up as needed for corrective action
- Manages environmental monitoring program results, including pre‑op testing and analysis
- Reviews food safety paperwork, product release and retain storage program daily
- Verifies Level1 product holds daily using the Red Zone hold verification form; escalates discrepancies or potential risks to the Quality Manager
- Handles customer corrective action reports and questionnaires as assigned
- Supports third‑party food safety, customer, and regulatory audits
- Maintains glass and brittle plastic registers/surveys, foreign material monitoring, and micro reporting
- Ensures validation testing for magnets, metal detectors, or other equipment as directed
- Sets up courier for micro, nutritional, and pesticide pick‑ups
- Supervises and evaluates day‑to‑day activities of lab technicians and sanitation employees
- Executes supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including training, planning, assigning, appraising, rewarding, and disciplining employees
- Assists with key customer and third‑party food safety audits and may lead areas of audits depending on scope and complexity
- Plans and monitors labor efficiently, coordinating with other departments for training and backup support
- Provides training on SOPs, safety, food safety, GMPs, CCPs, food defense, allergen control, and other necessary topics
