Senior Accountant (Project Management)

We are seeking a Senior Accountant for County Materials at Marathon, WI.

The Senior Accountant supports County Materials financial reporting and accounting operations within a multi-entity manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for complex general ledger activities, month‑end close, account reconciliations, and collaboration with Finance leadership, FP&A, and plant management to ensure accurate, timely, and GAAP‑compliant financial information.

• Execute and support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for multiple legal entities
• Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve variances
• Ensure financial statements are accurate, complete, and GAAP‑compliant
• Support internal management reporting and ad‑hoc financial analysis
• Prepare audit schedules and support external auditors, tax providers, and internal reviews
• Assist with documentation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures
• Apply accounting guidance related to inventory, fixed assets, leases, reserves, and intercompany transactions
• Utilize and support the Infor ERP system and related reporting tools
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in accounting processes
• Assist with system enhancements, reporting automation, and process standardization
• Support special projects including acquisitions, integrations, plant startups, and process changes

Office environment – fast‑paced, decentralized, multi‑entity manufacturing organization.

• Ability to sit for extended periods, with occasional standing and walking
• Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds
• Ability to communicate effectively through speaking and hearing

• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required;
  Masters degree in Accounting preferred
• 47 years of progressive accounting experience in a related field
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and experience working within an ERP system (Infor preferred)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced, decentralized environment
