Cost Accountant

K&S Manufacturing is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Cost Accountant to join our team. This role is responsible for analyzing manufacturing costs, maintaining accurate cost records, and supporting financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, proficient in excel, and prior experience in a manufacturing environment. Additionally, a willingness to work closely with production teams on the manufacturing floor. We are looking for someone who is a continuous learner, adaptable to change, and committed to building strong working relationships across all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and analyze product costing and manufacturing cost data.
• Monitor and analyze material, labor, and overhead costs to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Prepare and review cost reports, inventory valuations, and variance analyses.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes related to inventory and cost accounting.
• Reconcile inventory accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, purchasing, and operations teams to understand manufacturing processes and cost drivers.
• Participate in physical inventory counts and cycle count programs.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Assist with maintaining accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, and cost standards.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory accounting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP/MRP systems.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Qualifications Preferred

• Experience with in metal fabrication, machining, welding, or industrial manufacturing environments.
• Experience with standard costing, job costing, and variance analysis.
