Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Staff Site Safety & Health Specialist to support field construction projects and ensure the successful implementation of site-specific Safety & Health programs. This role is responsible for creating and enforcing safety policies and procedures that promote a safe, healthy, and incident-free work environment within a heavy construction setting.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction safety regulations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work closely with project teams, subcontractors, and client representatives to maintain compliance and drive a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor Safety & Health activities on field construction projects to ensure work is performed safely and according to project plans.
  • Execute project-specific Safety & Health program requirements and respond to site safety compliance questions and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable local, state, and federal OSHA regulations and industry standards.
  • Investigate situations requiring work stoppage when conditions present an immediate danger to life or health.
  • Communicate resolved safety concerns and corrective actions to project management teams.
  • Present project safety performance, compliance documentation, and safety initiatives to corporate safety leadership.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with client Safety & Health representatives regarding site safety issues and preventive measures.
  • Build strong working relationships with project personnel and subcontractor safety representatives to ensure consistent compliance.
  • Conduct, document, and monitor project safety walk-through assessments.
  • Present assessment findings and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Track and verify timely resolution of safety issues requiring immediate attention.
  • Prepare and distribute safety communications, awareness materials, and project safety updates.
  • Conduct and document environmental, health, and safety training sessions.
  • Review and complete incident investigations involving near misses, property damage, environmental incidents, and workplace accidents.
  • Develop recommendations and corrective measures to prevent future incidents.
  • Present project safety program progress, challenges, and objectives to leadership.
  • Complete daily project Safety & Health reports and maintain audit-ready records.
  • Verify subcontractors maintain required safety documentation and compliance records.
  • Travel and drive to various project locations as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Required Qualifications Education & Experience

One of the following combinations is required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field and 3+ years of construction safety, general industry safety, or construction management experience; OR
  • Associate Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field and 5+ years of relevant experience; OR
  • High School Diploma/GED and 7+ years of construction safety, general industry safety, or construction management experience.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA Construction and General Industry regulations.
  • Familiarity with ANSI, NIOSH, Army Corps of Engineers (EM 385-1), and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.
  • Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, investigations, and training programs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to influence and promote a proactive safety culture among project teams and subcontractors.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to maintain detailed records and documentation in an audit-ready state.
  • Willingness to work varying schedules based on project needs.
Certifications & Requirements
  • Valid driver's license and ability to maintain company driving privileges.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Outreach Training Certification OR OSHA 30-Hour Construction Outreach Training Certification required.
  • Ability to travel to and work at various project locations.
Preferred Attributes
  • Experience supporting large-scale construction, industrial, utility, or infrastructure projects.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with field and management teams.
