DailyResponsibilities
Designs and drafts custom plastic extrusion tooling, creating precise designs for complex profiles, co-extrusions, and tri-extrusions.
Manages full-lifecycle tooling projects, from initial concepts and 3D modeling to building, modifying, installing, and maintaining custom production dies.
Acts as the primary technical link to the floor, offering guidance, troubleshooting, and direction to toolmakers, machinists, and line operators during startup runs.
Collaborates closely with processing teams, getting hands-on to adjust, sample, and fine-tune physical tooling to meet tight customer tolerances.
Optimizes material flow and processing metrics to reduce scrap, refine tooling geometries, and maximize line throughput.
Maintains and updates digital CAD/CAM documentation using Fusion 360 and MasterCAM to ensure accurate engineering data controls.
Requirements & Qualifications3+ years of proven experience designing and drafting custom plastic profile extrusion dies (including co-extrusion and tri-extrusion).
3+ years of hands-on extrusion processing exposure, demonstrating a deep physical understanding of polymer behavior, melt dynamics, and draw ratios.
Proficiency in CAD/CAM using MasterCAM or Fusion 360 for profile geometry and toolpath architecture.
Growth mindset and leadership drive, with the interpersonal skills and technical credibility needed to mentor staff and quickly move into Department Head management.
