Anesthesiologist
The Anesthesiologist provides safe, quality patient care at The Orthopaedic Surgery Center, adhering to all policies and procedures of the facility. The Anesthesiologist is accountable for the administration of anesthetics or sedation during medical procedures. Using local, intravenous, and spinal methods.
This is a locum/pool position at the Orthopedic Surgery Centers in Pewaukee and Johnson Creek.
Candidates must currently reside within commuting distance of the work location. Relocation assistance and housing stipends are not provided for this position.
Clinical Activities Expectations:
- Assesses patient status preoperatively and postoperatively.
- Monitors patient before, during and after anesthesia and counteracts adverse reactions or complications.
- Provides safe, therapeutic and quality patient care to the patient in a timely manner and by setting appropriate priorities. Coordinates interventions to enhance achievement of expected outcomes and to ensure readiness for discharge.
- Communicates appropriate information to surgeons concerning patient care. Confers with surgeons to determine type and method of anesthetic appropriate on a case by case basis for patients.
- Completes procedures safely, providing proper pre-operative, intraoperative, and post-operative discharge instructions as needed.
- Initiates and participates in patient and family education in relation to anesthesia. Assesses learning needs according to patient's level of understanding and readiness to learn.
- Assists in positioning of patient on operating room table to maximize patient comfort and surgical accessibility.
- Displays an understanding of each patient's cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturity in the assessments, treatment, and care.
- Demonstrates complete understanding of established emergency procedures for The Orthopaedic Surgery Center.
- Demonstrates the ability to direct and provide for patient care in emergency situations.
- Demonstrates the ability to make decisions concerning center based problems.
Requirements:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) with successful completion of an accredited residency program in Anesthesiology.
- Board certified Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) or other recognized certifying body, as applicable.
- Current, unrestricted medical license, or eligibility for licensure, in the state of Wisconsin.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, as required by the position or facility.
