Position Information:
The Division of Business at Mayville State University is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Business, beginning Fall 2026 semester.
The successful candidate will work within the Division of Business and support the University as a team member by collaborating with faculty, staff, and students on committees, program planning, assessment, academic advising, student recruitment, and other needs as they become known. This position will teach in-person and online classes and requires regular physical presence at MSU throughout the academic year. This is not a remote position.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Deliver a teaching load of 24 credits per academic year (12 credits per semester) within the undergraduate Business Administration and/or MS in Leadership programs.
2. Develop and teach courses in multiple formats (face-to-face, online: synchronous and/or asynchronous)
3. Advising and mentoring students
4. Create syllabi and prepare materials and curriculum for assigned courses
5. Participating in program development, planning, and assessment activities
6. This position is 80% teaching and 20% service to the division, university, and community. Examples of this service would include assisting in recruiting and retention activities and serving on committees.
Required Competencies:
1. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to teach and advise students.
2. Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with students, faculty, staff, and community members with diverse backgrounds.
3. Ability to adapt to current methods of teaching, including online delivery.
4. Ability to teach, adapting to the learning preferences of students, such as (visual, auditory, & kinesthetic)
5. Ability to articulate and support the university's personal service philosophy with a strong commitment to teaching and learning in a college setting.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in Business Administration or related discipline.
2. Minimum of seven years of direct experience in business, financial institutions, and/or non-profit leadership roles
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Terminal degree, additional graduate level degree, graduate coursework beyond the master's degree, and/or related industry certification(s) and scholarly activities
2.
Experience with a variety of course delivery methods and technologies
3. Eight years or more of full-time teaching experience at a postsecondary institution
4. Demonstrated leadership and community service.
