Description

Lead Teachers are the backbone of the instructional and educational experience of the Waadookodaading academic program, and primarily responsible for the application of skills, knowledge, and a unique Anishinaabe consciousness that supports and extends educational experience for the students of the community.

Requirements
  • Proficient in the Ojibwe language and motivated to advance personal language skills.
  • Wisconsin DPI certification or willingness to obtain it within one year.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to use computers and technology in the classroom setting.
  • Must be supportive of the mission and philosophy of the Waadookodaading Ojibwe Language Institute.
  • BA in Education preferred.
  • Experience teaching Native American youth preferred.
  • Performance Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate positive teacher-learner interaction, uses instructional time wisely, and provides for and reinforces student-learner involvement.
  • Use appropriate classroom management strategies.
  • Participate in staff development, team/staff meetings, extra-curricular activities and parent conferences.
  • Supervise and monitor students at all times.
  • Responsible for the components of all core classes.
  • Evaluate and document student progress on a continuous basis.
  • Implement research proven practices to improve student achievement.
  • Plan and prepare instructional materials to support differentiated learning.
  • Refer students to additional services as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
