Elementary Reading Interventionist
- Limited Term (Two Years)

The Elementary Reading Interventionist is a highly-qualified teacher who holds a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction #1316 reading license. The elementary reading interventionist will provide explicit, systematic instruction in phonological/phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, reading fluency, and text comprehension that adheres to Wisconsin's Act 20 Legislation and science-based early literacy instruction. These interventions can be one-on-one or in small groups and can occur within or outside of the classroom.

In addition to working with students, this person will also collaborate with the elementary principal, special education teachers, and classroom teachers by sharing research and evidence-based literacy practices and strategies to help all of our K-5 students improve their reading proficiency. The reading interventionist will also monitor, document, and report student progress, adjusting plans when needed to increase K-5 reading achievement at the elementary level.

Qualifications:

  • A valid Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction #1316 reading license
  • At least three years of teaching experience
  • Preference will be given to teachers who have taught populations of at-risk students
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel
  • Completed Wisconsin Act 20 required coursework for Early Literacy and understand the requirements for classroom teachers under ACT 20 legislation
  • Understanding of ACT 20 requirements including aimsweb

    Plus, Personal Reading Plans, Tier III reading instruction, and progress monitoring

Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Co-facilitate elementary reading/ELA PLCs and district-wide reading/ELA PLCs
  • Screen and assess students to establish proper reading performance level
  • Provide intensive science-of reading based instruction to struggling students individually or in small groups within or outside of the students' classrooms
  • Analyze school and student data and recommend modifications to instruction and interventions for students for meeting and exceeding student achievement goals
  • Monitor student progress and arrange for academic interventions based on formative and summative assessments
  • Serve as a resource in the area of reading for paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators, and the community
  • Collaborate with teachers to ensure student mastery of standards by assisting with data driven instructional planning, integration of technology, and implementation of research based strategies
  • Adhere to ACT 20 requirements regarding assessing, progress monitoring and providing Tier III reading interventions for students with Personal Reading Plans
  • Communicates with teachers, administration, and families regarding student progress
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Terms of Employment:
Yearly teacher contract
- Limited Term (Two Years)

Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional personnel, as well as the required State Statutes.

Salary Range Based on DPI licensure and district hiring schedule $43,085 - $87,186 Benefits:
