Summary of Position
Instructors are responsible for providing quality academic curriculum, instruction, assessment, and for ensuring a productive and challenging learning experience is delivered to prepare students for the workplace and/or a pathway to further education. This position works to promote social justice within the division and the larger academic institution.
The position is a substitute position. Instruction is primarily in a face‑to‑face format on Tuesday and Thursday mornings (9:00 AM‑12:00 PM) at the Independence Regional Learning Center and on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (5:30 PM‑7:30 PM) at Arcadia High School. As needs arise, substitute instructors pick up classes during these times as their schedules allow.
Responsibilities- Deliver courses in multiple modes of delivery including modern classroom (F2F), online or hybrid/blended, and on‑site training for external customers where applicable.
- Develop and deliver instructional activities.
- Address and refer student concerns.
- Guide and support students on a one‑to‑one basis outside the classroom as well as in classroom setting.
- Assist students in developing critical thinking skills to understand and apply concepts of subject matter to vocational, ethical, social, and personal practices.
- Monitor student progress and conduct student evaluation.
- Provide input on and/or maintain division accreditation and student records.
- Integrate the college Success Abilities as well as the program outcomes and course competencies.
- Responsible for instructional learning activities.
- Provide academic referrals as appropriate.
- Organize, develop, and deliver outcomes‑based curriculum and assess student progress.
- Bachelor's degree or higher with credits, certification or teaching experience in TEFL, VESL, or TESL.
- Ability to teach some day or evening classes at the Independence Regional Learning Center or Arcadia High School.
- Bachelor's degree in education.
- Background in teaching underserved populations.
- Maintain necessary credentials and professional development in accordance with Higher Learning Commission, WTCS Faculty Quality Assurance System, other program accreditation or individual occupational licensures, and state and federal law.
$50 per hour
