Position OverviewThe Cornell University Department of Information Science (IS) in the Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science invites applications for full‑time, long‑term Lecturer or Senior Lecturer positions se non‑tenure‑track appointments offer a professional teaching career track with opportunities for renewal and eventual promotion. The Department includes approximately 40 faculty members and engages in interdisciplinary research and instruction in areas such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, human‑computer interaction, ubiquitous computing, user‑experience design, tech‑law policy, and more.
TeachingResponsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and master’s courses; typical full‑time load is two courses per semester.
- Develop new courses or update existing courses in topics such as web programming and design, application development, human‑computer interaction, information visualization, data science, network science, and information ethics, law, and policy.
- Engage students of varying class sizes, from 40–50 to 300+ participants, across lower and upper levels.
- Participate in curriculum design, departmental governance, and faculty decision‑making.
- PhD or equivalent in Information Science, Computer Science, or related fields, completed by August 2025.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and experience in undergraduate or graduate instruction.
- Strong record or potential for developing innovative, student‑centered learning experiences.
- Ability to contribute to a diverse and inclusive learning community.
- Optional: recent teaching evaluations.
