In-Pool Volunteer – Rainbow Club ACT

Our Rainbow Club- ACT region has the following clubs:
Bruce, Calwell, Queanbeyan.

As an In-Pool Volunteer at Rainbow Club, you’ll assist our qualified swim teachers in delivering fun, safe, and inclusive swimming lessons for children with disability. You’ll play an important role in helping members feel supported, engaged, and confident in the water. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience, build connections, and make a positive impact in your local community.

Responsibilities
  • Support teachers and members by demonstrating swim skills that the teacher is explaining to help members better understand.
  • Record and time laps for children working on personal bests in squad classes.
  • Race with children to motivate and encourage them.
  • Play games and interact with children to build confidence and socialisation skills.
  • Help supervise when a teacher is working with multiple members – playing or doing simple activities with one child while the teacher supports another.
  • Set up and pack away pool equipment.
  • Sort and clean equipment to keep things tidy and safe.
  • Organise visual aid cards and hand them to teachers during lessons when requested.
  • Assist the Lead Teacher by updating the scheduling board when there are teacher absences.
  • Where appropriate, speak with parents and carers about upcoming Rainbow Club events such as carnivals or the Malabar Magic swim.
  • Optionally, support out-of-water activities such as flyer drops or community outreach to help promote Rainbow Club Shape.
