Electrical Engineering Technologist – PCB & Prototype Support.
Join a steadily growing, specialized aerospace and defense manufacturer delivering high-reliability electronics. Work directly alongside design engineers to execute full-cycle prototype assembly, bench‑level testing, and circuit troubleshooting. This role is for an electronics specialist looking to move beyond repetitive assembly line work.
What You Will Be Doing- Assembling, soldering, and populating complex multi‑layer PCBs across prototype development and low‑volume production programs to strict IPC standards.
- Troubleshooting electrical assemblies, components, wire harnesses, and circuits independently to locate root‑cause failures and support ongoing engineering evaluations.
- Collaborating directly with design engineering to bring up initial boards, execute functional product testing, and manage smooth manufacturing startup activities.
- Assisting in the development of Bills of Materials (BOMs), sourcing specialized electrical components, and managing engineering lab equipment calibrations.
- Preparing detailed technical documentation, including draft assembly drawings, test reports, and structural calculations for electronic designs.
- Supporting continuous quality assurance initiatives in strict alignment with AS9100D aerospace and defense protocols.
- Managing multiple project support tasks simultaneously, adapting quickly to shifting program priorities on a fast‑paced team.
- Proven, hands‑on experience as an electronics technician or engineering technologist. An associate’s degree in electronics or electrical technology is preferred; a master technician with 10+ years of advanced bench experience is also welcomed.
- High proficiency in PCB assembly, rework, and soldering. Prior IPC certification or equivalent hands‑on mastery is a core requirement.
- Flawless ability to read, interpret, and trace electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering layout documentation.
- Strong, independent troubleshooting skills—comfortable using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and lab power supplies to isolate faults at the component level.
- Proactive professionalism that can take engineering guidance and run independently, managing priorities effectively.
- Experience with in an AS9100D or aerospace‑certified quality environment.
- Familiarity with power supply designs, board layout concepts, or custom optical/electronic systems.
- Basic exposure to 3D modeling software such as Solid Works or circuit simulation tools such as PSpice.
- Experience in a military, defense‑adjacent, or ruggedized‑product manufacturing setting.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements. High‑reliability defense programs require strict adherence to regulatory standards.
