- Develop next generation power electronics for solar, energy storage, EV charging and test applications using SiC and GaN MOSFETs.
- Develop high-frequency bidirectional DC-DC converters, AC-DC grid-tie inverter, and resonant converters.
- Lead development from concept to productization.
- Develop innovative digital control algorithms.
- Develop innovative magnetics.
- Collaborate with PCB layout designers to implement high-density power designs.
- Collaborate with mechanical designers to develop the product design (sheet metal, heatsinks, bus bars, etc.).
- Achieve UL & CE compliance for the various products.
- Lead EMC compliance activities.
- Assist team members in achieving project budgets on assigned projects.
- Participate in a culture of continuous learning, standardization, and design for manufacturability.
- Ensure compliance with safety and work rules; maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
Our client is a growth-focused firm in the energy storage, testing, and power electronics space serving the EV charging, solar, and data center industries. The team emphasizes full lifecycle product engineering leadership.
What You'll Bring (Requirements)- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in power electronics design, including high-frequency power stages, filtering, circuit protection, thermal and EMI/EMC considerations; PCB layout, DC-DC and DC-AC experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with lab testing tools and thermal testing.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with MATLAB / Simulink / Sim Power Systems .
- Minimum 3 years of product development process experience.
- Minimum 2 years of related experience with power electronics and control systems design.
- Minimum 2 years of process orientation/discipline and demonstrated use of problem-solving tools (e.g., Pareto, 5-Why, 8-D, Six Sigma).
- Master's Degree in power electronics with more than 5 years of industry experience in power converter development (NPD or R&D).
- Data center DC-DC work experience (high current) and DC-DC solar optimizer experience.
- 5+ years of design, testing, and debugging of DC-DC or 3-phase AC-DC converters (400-900V, >2kW).
- Experience in design and selection of power semiconductor parts, cooling, passive components, protection circuits, and sensing circuits.
- Understanding of PCB layout for high voltages.
- Familiarity with UL1741 standards and common Safety/EMI standards for power converter systems.
- Familiarity with EMC requirements and filter design.
- Understanding of hardware-mechanical and hardware-software interfaces.
- Understanding of fundamental equations for high-frequency inductor and transformer design.
- Experience operating in a power-electronics and industrial packaging manufacturing environment.
