OverviewJoin a decades‑old firm (240+ employees) that is experiencing a growth spurt, working on the latest energy storage, testing, and power electronics technologies for the EV charging, solar, and data center industries. We are seeking two seasoned engineers with full product‑lifecycle leadership experience to help expand our product offering. Candidates should thrive in a fast‑paced environment, work with high‑power components (1.5 kV–2 kV), and manage end‑to‑end product engineering.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Develop next‑generation power electronics for solar, energy storage, EV charging, and test applications using SiC and GaN MOSFETs.
- Design high‑frequency bidirectional DC‑DC converters, AC‑DC grid‑tie inverters, and resonant converters.
- Lead development from concept to productization.
- Develop innovative digital control algorithms and magnetics.
- Collaborate with PCB layout designers to implement high‑density power designs.
- Partner with mechanical designers on product design (sheet metal, heatsinks, bus bars, etc.).
- Achieve UL & CE compliance and lead EMC compliance activities.
- Assist team members in meeting project budgets and support continuous learning, standardization, and high‑quality design with a focus on manufacturability.
- Ensure compliance with safety, work rules, regulations, and departmental housekeeping standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of power electronics design experience, including high‑frequency power stages, filtering, circuit protection, thermal, and EMI/EMC considerations, PCB layout, DC‑DC, and DC‑AC experience.
- Minimum 3 years of lab testing and thermal testing experience.
- Minimum 2 years of MATLAB / Simulink / Sim‑Power Systems skills.
- Minimum 3 years of product development process experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with power electronics and control systems design.
- Demonstrated application of problem‑solving tools (e.g., Pareto, 5‑Why Analysis, 8‑D, Six‑Sigma).
- Master’s degree in power electronics with >5 years of industry experience as an NPD or R&D engineer.
- Data center DC‑DC work experience (high current) and DC‑DC solar optimizer experience.
- 5 years of design, testing, and debugging of DC‑DC or 3‑phase AC‑DC converters (400–900 V, >2 kW).
- Experience in design and selection of power semiconductor parts, cooling mechanisms, passive components, protection circuits, and sensing circuits.
- Understanding of PCB layout for high voltages.
- Familiarity with UL1741 and typical safety/EMI standards for power converter systems.
- Familiarity with EMC requirements and filter design.
- Knowledge of hardware‑mechanical and hardware‑software interfaces.
- Understanding of analytical equations for high‑frequency inductors and transformers.
- Experience in a power‑electronics and industrial packaging manufacturing environment.
