This role works cross-functionally with sales, marketing, manufacturing, and quality to translate customer specifications into complete designs, prepare materials and documentation, and successfully release products into production. The Project Engineer will create and refine multiple design variants using Solid Works, contributing directly to high-visibility projects for major brands and sports franchises in a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
+ Review customer specifications and requirements and translate them into detailed mechanical designs for sheet metal and structural products.
+ Design and develop LED signage, scoreboards, and other branding solutions, creating different design variants using Solid Works.
+ Collaborate closely with sales, marketing, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure designs meet customer needs, manufacturability standards, and quality expectations.
+ Alert purchasing to required materials and components based on the design, ensuring accurate and timely procurement.
+ Update and maintain bills of materials (BOM) for new and existing products, ensuring all design changes are properly documented.
+ Release finalized designs into production, including preparing necessary drawings, models, and supporting documentation.
+ Participate in and support full project lifecycle activities, managing projects from initial concept through to final production and implementation.
+ Work hands-on with the production and manufacturing team to validate designs, support fabrication processes, and resolve design or manufacturing issues.
+ Apply sheet metal and metal fabrication knowledge to ensure designs are structurally sound, cost-effective, and suitable for manufacturing.
+ Use project management skills to plan, organize, and track design and development activities, meeting deadlines and project milestones.
+ Maintain detailed and accurate design records, models, and documentation in Solid Works and related systems, including EPDM when applicable.
+ Contribute to a collaborative, cross-functional engineering culture by sharing ideas, participating in team discussions, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering; candidates with an associate degree must have at least 3+ years of relevant design experience.
+ Minimum of 6+ months of Solid Works design experience specifically with sheet metal or structural steel components.
+ Minimum of 6+ months of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably involving sheet metal fabrication.
+ Foundational knowledge of mechanical design principles and mechanical engineering concepts.
+ Understanding of sheet metal and metal fabrication processes and considerations.
+ Ability to work cross-functionally with sales, marketing, manufacturing, and quality teams.
+ Detail-oriented approach with strong attention to accuracy in designs, documentation, and BOM updates.
+ Basic project management experience, including organizing tasks, managing timelines, and supporting projects from concept through production.
+ Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+
Experience with electro-mechanical products and related engineering design.
+ Hands-on experience working directly in a manufacturing environment alongside production teams.
+ Experience drafting in AutoCAD for engineering drawings and documentation.
+
Experience with EPDM or similar product data management software.
+ Interest or passion for sports, which can enhance engagement with branding and scoreboard products.
+ Ability to thrive in a smaller company environment with broad exposure to different departments and responsibilities.
+ Motivation to manage projects from cradle to grave, gaining comprehensive product development experience.
Work Environment
The work environment is casual and collaborative, with a blue jeans and polo style dress code that reflects a relaxed yet professional culture. The organization offers a smaller company feel, providing broad exposure to various departments and the opportunity to work cross-functionally with sales, marketing, manufacturing, and quality. The engineering team includes approximately 10 project engineers and more than 15 engineers in total, fostering a supportive and team-oriented atmosphere.
The location serves as a global engineering hub, offering significant product development experience and involvement in projects for major brands and notable sports franchises. Employees benefit from a fun, values-driven culture where collaboration, shared goals, and hands-on engagement with production and manufacturing are highly encouraged.
