Facilities engineers are responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure and equipment of buildings and facilities. They perform analyses of operational processes, resource allocation, energy use, and safety processes, and recommend and implement improvements. They should possess extraordinary communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment. They should also possess good organizational skills as well as excellent project management skills.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of engineering principles to include; basic electrical, HVAC, facility management systems, hydraulics, and basic construction techniques.
  • Have experience managing multi-discipline projects, programming, writing technical instructions and basic drafting.
  • Analyze problems and gather data to see how engineered solutions may benefit the facility operations, and maintenance.
  • Participate on and or lead project teams as assigned to support ongoing projects to satisfy customer's needs, keeping cost, deliveries, and rework under control against budget of project.
  • Recommend and implement cost reductions.
  • Site planning/propose updates to facility systems to meet growth and sustained needs of the company. Develop and propose facility improvements (infrastructure, utilities, equipment, systems, BMS) to support ongoing business goals of the organization.
  • Meet with contractors on proposed new technology for the building facilities to determine applicability and understand pros/cons of the proposed.
  • Maintain paper and electronic drawings files of the facility for quick references during plant planning, equipment layout, and troubleshooting.
  • Update facility drawings to include undocumented information that is needed for plant development and standardization with trouble shooting on, off of new installations, and facility system failures.
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance documents in collaboration with sub-contractors and internal organization departments that support the facility needs.
  • Monitor and maintain preventative maintenance program through ERP.
  • Proficiency in servicing, troubleshooting, cleaning heating and cooling equipment and related equipment.
  • Strong electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Maintain, service and setup service equipment and rigging equipment.
  • Specify and order replacement components for repairs and restock inventory.
  • Must be able to climb up and down ladders from all heights within OSHA regulations.
  • Work is performed in a variety of environmental conditions with exposure to outdoor temperature variations, noise, vibrations, gas or fumes, grease cleaning solvents, degreasing agents, machinery and its moving parts, odors, and dust particles.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with management team, vendors, associates, and visitors.
  • Possess and maintain a valid and current driver license and be insurable by the company's insurance carrier.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.

Essential

Qualifications:

  • Two-year technical degree or a minimum of three years of industrial facility maintenance experience.
  • Professional appearance and proficiency in computer and internet usage.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Previous ISO experience
  • Experience with in the medical device industry.
  • Ability to lead and train others
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize work
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; hands on in the field.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; be a team player and have the ability to develop and maintain a team atmosphere. Must be able to communicate with all levels of staff, contractors, and management. Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, health and safety standards.
  • Must be able to work effectively when alone.
  • Proficient PC skills in a window environment.

Desirable

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors' degree in Engineering (preferably in mechanical engineering) and or minimum of five years of experience in this field preferred. (Technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, drafting, and programming disciplines)

ADA Requirements:

  • Bend, squat, climb, grasp, reach, lift or otherwise move frequently for extended periods.
  • Lift, move or otherwise transfer up to 50 lbs. frequently, or more occasionally.
  • Walk, stand or otherwise move about continuously.
