McKinley Paper and Packaging Company - Wisconsin Mill, as part of its succession and growth plans, is seeking a Process Engineer to join its Technical Department. A Process Engineer will work with paper making, pulping and OCC area managers in all aspects of operations, including safety, customer satisfaction, quality, cost, productivity, service, and people.
McKinley’s Wisconsin Mill sits on the banks of the Fox River, in the Village of Combined Locks, in the heart of the “Paper Valley” located between Appleton and Green Bay WI. Our very proud and dedicated team follows in the footsteps of generations of paper makers at the mill since its founding in 1889. The mill produces mainly 100% recycled paperboard & bag papers as well as printing & writing papers.
CERTIFICATESAND LICENSES
Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering and/or Paper Science, or closely related field with 2 to 4 years’ professional experience preferred.
JOB TYPEFull-time based in the McKinley Wisconsin mill located in Combined Locks Wisconsin (near Appleton and Green Bay).
PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Assists with daily production problem troubleshooting from a process, technical, and systems standpoint.
- Coordinates aspects of product development in conjunction with Production, Sales and Corporation liaison.
- Interfaces with Engineering, Production, Technical, and Process Control to review and if applicable, recommend new or changes to equipment and/or processes.
- Collects and analyzes data with sound statistical methods to assist in process improvement and trial evaluation.
- Identifies state of the art process materials and conducts process trials, working closely with Production.
- Develops internal/external customer/supplier relations with operating areas.
- Participates in cost reduction efforts.
- Participates in weekend duty as required.
- Develops, implements and maintains continuous improvement projects in area.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Suite – Excel, PowerPoint, and Word are highly desirable.
- Experience with Pi, Parc View and other production systems is very helpful.
- Experience with an ERP, particularly SAP, is also helpful.
- Excellent oral and written skills are important for success.
- Ability to write clear and concise technical reports presenting processes, data, conclusions and recommendations are also necessary for success.
- Ability to make small group presentations is highly desirable.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas and technical terms in a way that non-engineers (e.g. machine crews) can understand is also important for success.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills are a must.
- Creativity and strong problem solving skills are needed.
- Intellectual curiosity is a key success factor.
