Engineer, WasteLAB Materials

Kohler is seeking an Engineer, WasteLAB Materials to develop innovative, sustainable materials from manufacturing byproducts within our WasteLAB initiative. In this role, you will research, formulate, and test new material compositions for use in tile, fixtures, and other products, driving circular manufacturing practices. You'll collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to scale lab concepts into manufacturable solutions, analyze performance data, and document standards.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop innovative materials using manufacturing byproducts and waste streams.
• Formulate, prototype, and test new material compositions for performance, durability, and manufacturability.
• Partner with design, engineering, and production teams to scale materials from lab to manufacturing.
• Analyze test data, optimize processes, and troubleshoot material or production issues.
• Document material specifications, test methods, and standards to support commercialization.
• Collaborate on sustainability goals, supporting circular manufacturing initiatives and reporting.
• Maintain safe, compliant lab and pilot environments and ensure accurate recordkeeping.
• Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
