Department: 04100 AMG Specialist Group: ED Mount Pleasant - Emergency Medicine
Employment Type:
Full-time (40 hours per week)
Pay range: $59.00 - $88.50 per hour
Shift pattern: 7 scheduled shifts per pay period (10‑hour weekday shifts and 12‑hour weekend shifts, including weekend and holiday rotations)
Major Responsibilities- Assess, diagnose, and determine or alter treatment and management plans appropriate for age, acuity, and clinical condition, including ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic studies and prescriptions.
- Manage conditions based on evidence‑based care, cost effectiveness, risk/benefit assessment, and alternatives.
- Provide health promotion, disease prevention, and disease‑management counseling and education to patients and families.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team, seek physician or other health‑care member consultation or referrals as appropriate, and escalates need for emergent or specialized care.
- Maintain accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record, substantiating and submitting professional services consistent with compliant coding and billing practices.
- Facilitate consistent, coordinated care and clear communication among all members of the health‑care team and/or health or community agencies.
- Perform office or hospital procedures in accordance with specialty practice, competency and granted privileges (where applicable).
- Participate in quality, safety, and peer review initiatives/performance activities, organizational and/or departmental meetings and committees, and work groups as necessary.
- Participate in education and/or onboarding of new team members, students, and other health‑care professionals.
- Seek experiences to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills and advance the profession within and outside of the organization.
- Maintain standards of productivity, access, face‑to‑face time, and quality metrics to ensure optimal, safe, and timely patient care delivery.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, including knowledge of the principles of growth and development across the lifespan.
- Active PA license(s) in state(s) of practice.
- Active PA national board certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Active DEA registration prior to hire.
- If practicing in Illinois: active Illinois Controlled Substance License prior to hire.
- Active BLS and/or ACLS, PALS, NRP as required by clinical practice, before or within 6 months of hire.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physician Assistant.
- No prior experience required.
- High level of clinical proficiency and excellent decision‑making skills.
- Ability to work independently and as an effective member of a health‑care team.
- Adaptability to evolving technology and proficiency with the electronic medical record.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to collaborate and build relationships.
- Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively.
- Must stand, walk, bend, stoop, and twist continuously throughout the workday.
- Must have functional speech, vision, touch, and hearing.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs over the head, carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance, and operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
- Base compensation within the listed pay range based on qualifications, skills, experience, and/or training.
