Description
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age – if 16 or 17 waiver can be obtained with specific requirements
- Must be able to comprehend and follow instructions
- Must be able to perform all the requirements of the job description and have no lifting or bending restrictions that would affect the job requirements.
- Previous experience in a health care facility is desired
- Must possess good communication skills and a willingness to work with all team players
- Must have an acceptable criminal background check
Status: The Resident Service Assistant is directly responsible to the Assisted Living Director/Director of Nursing.
Essential Job Functions: Provides non-professional routine nursing care and light housekeeping duties for the tenants of Pine Ridge/Cedar Ridge Assisted Living in accordance with the facility and state/federal guidelines.
Specific Job Duties:
Demonstrates ability to perform nursing assistant duties as assignedObtains pertinent information regarding residents and reports to appropriate personnelDemonstrates ability to plan and prioritize actions before starting resident caresPerforms light housekeeping tasks such as changing linensProvides assistance with laundry tasks as necessaryPerforms procedures to meet individual resident needs for daily hygiene and appearance including, but not limited to, toileting, bathing, grooming, shaving, oral cares, and nail careDemonstrates proper techniques of lifting, transferring, and ambulating residents; including the use of mechanical lifts.Implements special care needs including incontinence cares, special skin care, catheter care, turning/positioning techniques, and use of adaptive equipmentPerforms restorative care and range of motion as instructedAssists with resident admissions, discharges, and room transfers as appropriateSorts and passes resident mailAssists and encourages resident to take adequate diet, fluids, and supplementsRecognizes physical distress and acts to provide relief for those residentsIdentifies and reports physical and psychological symptoms or spiritual needs to appropriate staffAllows residents the freedom of choice in details of daily living whenever possibleEnsures residents rights are maintained at all timesReports any observed physical or verbal abuse to the supervisor immediatelyEncourages residents to participate in self care as appropriateAssists residents with the application of prostheticsProvides diversional activities as appropriate to meet resident needsDemonstrates effective and respectful communication with residents, families, and team membersDemonstrates knowledge of, and adheres to, actions to assure resident and staff safetyDemonstrates proper infection control procedures and practicesComplies with rules and regulations of regulatory and surveying agenciesComplies with facility policies including but not limited to attendance policy and personal electronics policyMaintains an active working relationship with nursing team and ancillary departmentsPromotes the concept of customer satisfaction and positive interpersonal relationshipsParticipates in giving and receiving report from the other shiftAttends scheduled training seminars, meetings, and in-services as appropriateFollows work assignments and/or work schedules as assignedPractices good personal hygiene and facility dress codeAssumes added duties as assigned by the Director of Assisted Living or Director of Nursing/Clinical ManagerPerforms and assists with activities per activity calendar/activity daily sheetsPay: $19.00- $25.00 per hour, depending on years of experience. Shift Differential for PM Shift: $3 per hour.
