Surgical Technician

Surgical Technician in the Surgical Services Department

Part-time (0.8 FTE) Day Shift Position (6:30 a.m.

-3:30 p.m.), with on-call responsibilities

• The Surgical Technician, under the guidance of the registered nurse and surgeon, is responsible for the care and safety of the patients who come under his/her care
• Included within this, is the responsibility to communicate effectively with the registered nurse, the patient, other staff, and physicians
• Person is responsible for the safe and appropriate sterile processing of surgical equipment and instrumentation
• Responsible for clerical duties as assigned by departmental director, such as but not limited to, responding to phone calls, verification of patient charges, collecting departmental statistics
• Candidates should have abasic knowledge of computerized spreadsheets, word processing and data input

• Candidates should have a technical college education/degree in an Operating Room Technician program or equivalent experience in a Operating Room Technician position
• Prior health care experience is preferred
• Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to provide high-quality patient care
• Must have excellent communication skills and be very dependable and have some flexibility with their personal schedules
• Previous experience with the Microsoft Office Suite programs is beneficial
