Job Summary

The Public Health Strategist advances population health outcomes through data-informed decision making, planning, stakeholder collaboration, and implementation of health initiatives. This role supports community health assessment and improvement efforts, cross-sector partnerships, and strategic planning within the public health division and Health and Human Services. The position requires independent critical thinking and continuous application of evidence-based practices in a dynamic, community-facing environment.

The Public Health Strategist requires excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills as they facilitate various coalitions, community presentation as well as public health information marketing.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist Public Health Leadership the development and implementation of Community Health Assessments (CHA) and Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).
  • Assist in identifying baseline, benchmarks and outcome measures of health initiatives related to Community Health Improvement Plan
  • Collects and analyzes population health data to assess community-based opportunities and challenges to inform public health strategies.
  • Communicates and translate findings of health data to a variety of audiences addressing the analysis of health disparities.
  • Provide public health information in the community through presentations, news releases, web sites, social media, media interviews and other methods.
  • Leads efforts to educate community partners on evidence-based practices and public health policies.
  • Facilitates community coalitions with partner organizations to coordinate multi-agency health interventions to address public health disparities of the community.
  • Participate in planning and implementing community-based initiatives, interventions and evidence-informed strategies to promote well-being and reduce disparities through collaboration with agency and community partners
  • Evaluates effectiveness of public health initiatives to makes data-driven recommendations for program/initiative improvement.
  • Develops and implements targeted marketing campaigns to educate diverse populations on health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Identify funding opportunities and grant applications based on Door County policies
  • Ability to analyze data and program effectiveness to identify quality improvement opportunities within public health and community programs.
  • Assist in development of core public health documents including communication plan, strategic plan, quality improvement plan and performance management plan and Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) plan
  • Participates in public health emergency response operations, including disease outbreaks, natural or manmade disasters, and emergency response exercises.
  • Mentors new staff and students; fosters internal professional development and continuous quality improvement.
  • Integrates principles of health equity and cultural competence across all programmatic functions.
