Position OverviewWe are seeking a hands-on Director of Human Resources to serve as the senior HR leader supporting a multi-site manufacturing organization with three U.S. locations. This role will act as a strategic business partner to executive and operational leadership while maintaining direct ownership of day-to-day HR operations.
The Director of HR will oversee the full employee lifecycle, including employee relations, talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, payroll, compliance, HR systems, safety initiatives, workers’ compensation, and organizational development. This is a highly visible individual contributor leadership role with no direct reports, requiring someone who is comfortable balancing strategic initiatives with hands-on execution.
Key Responsibilities HR Leadership & Operations- Serve as the primary HR leader supporting executive leadership and manufacturing operations across three locations.
- Provide guidance on employee relations, investigations, performance management, corrective actions, terminations, and employment law.
- Develop and maintain HR policies and programs while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Lead recruiting strategy, workforce planning, employee engagement, retention, and leadership development initiatives.
- Manage compensation, benefits, executive payroll administration, and HR reporting.
- Serve as the HR systems leader, maintaining current HR processes within UKG and playing a key role in the company’s future migration to SAP Success Factors.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external providers on HRIS reporting, data integrity, process mapping, testing, training, and implementation readiness.
- Leverage HR metrics and analytics to identify trends and support business decisions.
- Lead Affirmative Action and EEO compliance efforts, including partnering with external providers to develop and maintain Affirmative Action Plans.
- Oversee compliance reporting, recruitment documentation, accommodations, diversity initiatives, and employment practices associated with being an Affirmative Action employer.
- Ensure adherence to applicable employment laws and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with operational leadership to oversee safety-related HR programs.
- Manage workers’ compensation processes, claims administration, training initiatives, and compliance with applicable safety regulations.
- 8–12+ years of progressive HR experience with significant experience supporting manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Experience serving as the senior HR leader for a plant or multi-site operation.
- Strong working knowledge of HRIS platforms, ideally UKG, and experience with system implementations, upgrades, or migrations.
- Experience managing Affirmative Action programs, EEO reporting, compliance audits, and accommodations.
- Strong understanding of payroll, benefits, compensation, employee relations, and safety programs.
- Ability to operate independently, influence leadership, and drive both strategic and operational HR initiatives.
