Position: Benefit Specialist (In Office, Milwaukee Area)

Benefit Specialist, People Engagement & Operations

This organized, efficient individual is responsible for the full-time day-to-day human resource administration and hiring activities including but not limited to employee relations, terminations, benefits, and recruitment.

What you will do here:

  • Process required paperwork according to established procedures for new employees/hires, training, on-boarding, separation processes, transfers, resignations, terminations, salary increases, leaves of absences, create new employee files, reference checks on candidates and background checks on new hires. This position reports to the Sr. Director of People Engagement & Operations but also works closely with Payroll. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain records and support the EEO and Affirmative Action reporting requirements, federal and state wage and hour regulations
  • Process approved employee updates in UKG:
  • New Team Member Records
  • Employee Change Form (ECF)
  • Offers/LOA

  • Guidebook & Company Policy
  • Benefit Enrollment – New Hire, Qualifying Event & Annual Renewal
  • Process new team member from recruiting to onboarding/hired in HIRS
  • Internal employee communications such but not limited to benefits, company policies, initiatives, approved personal announcements etc.
  • Complete all employment verifications forms and loan requests received (with help from Payroll) as requested
  • Maintain all personnel records; in paper form and on the Hub
  • Report and record employees address changes and notify necessary vendors
  • Completing appropriate new hire employment forms, HRIS onboarding, and benefit information/elections, benefit maintenance of current employees
  • Complete benefits Open Enrollment & Qualifying Life programs for health, dental, vision, life insurance, STD, LTD, Worksite and answer staff questions
  • Audit Benefit elections monthly and process carrier invoices in ensure proper and accurate payments
  • Complete and communicate Summer Sabbatical request upon final approval
  • General Office Responsibilities
  • Conference Room set-up and cleanliness for client and internal meetings
  • Coordinate office and client meeting food & beverage needs
  • Yearly record purges
  • Coordinate keeping the office "green" (recycling, etc.)
  • Fed Ex Shipping as needed
  • Back up phone system – answering and directing calls as needed

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in HR, Business Administration, Data Analytics, Organizational/Operational Development, or related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in HR benefits, operations, people engagement, compliance, and/or training management.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using tools such:
    • Word, Excel, and Internet/social media
    • Outlook (email and scheduling)
    • UKG system knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, facilitation, and relationship‑building abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cross‑functional projects and drive organizational improvements.
  • Must be detail oriented and pride oneself on 100% accuracy
  • Must maintain the highest confidentiality standards
  • Be a supportive and an active listener to counsel employees concerning work-related problems
  • Skilled in presentations to groups and in explaining policies and procedures to employees and management
