For SAP HANA deployments, configure and manage General Parallel File System (GPFS)
Configure de-duplication and compression where applicable
Utilize advanced hypervisor integration (e.g. VAAI, VVOL, Storage DRS)
Configure and manage data snapshot and replication procedures and tools
Optimize and automate deployment of new Storage capabilities (e.g., scripting)
Perform rebuilds on crashed volumes and initializing new volumes
Continually perform performance tuning of Storage Subsystems in relation to usage patterns by applications and demonstrate obtained efficiencies in storage utilization annually
Adhere to and enforce customer disk quota practices
Implement Storage Management and optimization processes to maintain Ralph Lauren directed headroom on all Storage Subsystems and add capacity as required
Support Storage encryption activities, as directed by Ralph Lauren
Perform catalog management and data migrations as required
Reclaim and wipe Storage volumes
Keep firmware, microcode, OS software updated and current
Perform data replication testing
Support for Veeam, Veritas Net Backup, EMC Networker and Avamar software
Manage redundancy across all backup and Recovery infrastructure
Implement de-duplication when applicable or otherwise directed by Client
Support encryption, as required by Client
Install and configure add-on tools that enable specialized backups where required, block-level incremental backups, image bare metal, etc.
Install and configure disk array-based mirror and split technologies where appropriate and as determined by Client business requirements
Install and configure disk array, data protection appliance and/or disk volume management software-based replication technologies as appropriate and as determined by Client business requirements
Install and configure virtual tape libraries and disk-based backups were appropriate based on Client requirements
Perform regular system backups in accordance with Client backup schedule
Perform regular tests of backup and restore processes as defined by Client Backup and Recovery procedures and deliver documented results to Client
In addition to incremental and full backups, perform backups prior to and after Major Level Upgrade Changes and after significant Application Software batch processing periods as requested by Client
Manage backup data so as to enable the recovery from an Outage or data corruption in compliance with service metrics
Ensure recovery action is approved by Client Security Leadership
Identify the most recent fully recoverable backup and all incremental backups executing on the impacted drive(s)
If required, retrieve the backup media from offsite Storage
Communicate to Client a plan and timeline for completing the restore, including interfacing and co-planning with Client application teams, if required
Execute the recovery by loading the latest fully recoverable backup and then restoring the incremental backups to the impacted drive(s)
Where implemented, execute a restore to a replicated backup Operating System instance and associated systems Storage
Test and validate the Normal Operations of the drive(s)
Return the drive(s) to production
