Network Technician (Part-Time)

Position Overview

Part-Time Opportunity with Potential for Full-Time Conversion
The Network Technician is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and optimizing enterprise network infrastructure. This role focuses on installing, configuring, securing, and troubleshooting network hardware, software, and connectivity services to ensure reliable network performance, availability, and security.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting enterprise networking environments, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a solid understanding of LAN/WAN technologies, network security, and infrastructure support.

Key Responsibilities

Network Infrastructure Support
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Support routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, VoIP systems, printers, battery backup systems, and network cabling.
  • Perform hardware and software upgrades to maintain system performance and reliability.
  • Ensure network equipment is operating efficiently and according to established standards.
Network Administration
  • Administer and support enterprise networking environments, including routing, switching, wireless, and security technologies.
  • Support LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless network infrastructure.
  • Configure and maintain network services and connectivity solutions.
  • Monitor network performance and implement improvements to enhance reliability, availability, and efficiency.
Network Security
  • Manage firewall configurations, security policies, and access control measures.
  • Assist in maintaining security standards and protecting network infrastructure against potential threats.
  • Support VPN connectivity and secure remote access solutions.
  • Participate in troubleshooting security-related network issues.
Troubleshooting & Escalation Support
  • Serve as an advanced escalation resource for complex network-related incidents and service interruptions.
  • Diagnose and resolve network connectivity, performance, and configuration issues.
  • Analyze root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring problems.
  • Coordinate with vendors and external support providers to resolve hardware and software issues when necessary.
End User & Operational Support
  • Support end users by resolving network and connectivity-related issues.
  • Maintain high service standards and provide timely communication throughout issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to support infrastructure projects and operational initiatives.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance activities, including occasional after-hours support as needed.
  • Travel periodically to support infrastructure deployments, upgrades, and troubleshooting activities.
Required Qualifications

Education
  • Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent professional experience may be considered in place of formal education.
Experience
  • 2-4 years of experience in networking, infrastructure support, or network administration.
  • Experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise networking equipment.
  • Experience supporting network connectivity across multiple locations and business environments.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring, maintenance, and performance optimization practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with enterprise routing and switching platforms.
  • Firewall administration experience.
  • Wireless networking deployment and troubleshooting experience.
  • Knowledge of IT security technologies and best practices.
  • DNS and DHCP administration experience.
  • Industry certifications such as Network+, CCNA, JNCIA, or equivalent preferred.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
