The Senior Category Strategy Manager will lead a team of category strategy professionals with deep understanding of categories of spend or program/product development globally. This role will make strategic decisions on category strategies, influence business outcomes, maximize value through category planning, strategic sourcing, and supplier engagement. The Senior Category Strategy Manager will provide expert guidance on external market forces and internal value chain performance, present category strategies, and establish meaningful relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure value optimization and improved supply chain performance.
Responsibilities- Mentor and coach multiple category managers across the segment.
- Identify opportunities to engage in business-leading strategic initiatives that benefit the enterprise, segment, or globe.
- Manage multiple spend categories and category managers at global, segment, and/or enterprise levels.
- Develop a deep understanding of multiple spend categories and connect supply chain impact to business outcomes.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on spend category/commodity, market trends, and future impacts.
- Utilize data analytics tools to conduct spend and category analytics; maintain category spend and performance dashboards and visibility of spend synergies.
- Formulate business cost/value opportunities through advanced critical thinking.
- Build relationships with the supplier base to impact value propositions regularly.
- Proficiently interpret engineering/technical drawings and understand the technical language of the business and category.
- Oversee supplier preferencing strategy, supplier engagement model, and part taxonomy.
- Identify, communicate, and manage supply chain risk and business continuity plans.
- Lead validation and governance of category/commodity prices, including total cost of ownership models.
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives that capture value for the business; may lead or support a council.
- Foster open, trusting relationships within the team through meaningful conversations and development plans.
- Present sourcing strategy and value proposition to the executive level.
- Collaborate across the product development team to drive a long-term category strategy and supplier performance from concept through launch.
- Bachelor’s degree with eight (8) or more years of experience in Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing, or a related field.
- Ability to travel 25-30%.
- Relevant industry certifications.
- Category strategy experience within the manufacturing industry.
- Experience mentoring and leading team members through direct reports or project work.
- Effective communication, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time-management capabilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing requirements.
- Experience with web-based software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
Pay Range: $ - $. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Individual pay is determined by factors including responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and equity among team members.
