Strategic Sourcing Manager

About the JobAbout the Role: The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for leading sourcing strategy, supplier management, and procurement operations within a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on securing high-quality materials and services at optimal cost while ensuring supply chain continuity, production efficiency, and supplier performance across metal fabrication and industrial manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies to support manufacturing, metal fabrication, and finishing operations
- Source and manage supplier relationships for raw materials including steel, aluminum, stainless steel, fasteners, coatings, and finishing chemicals
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and lead times to achieve cost savings and ensure continuity of supply
- Evaluate supplier performance using KPIs, scorecards, and quality metrics, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Monitor market trends, raw material pricing, and supply chain risks to inform procurement decisions
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to align sourcing with technical specifications and production schedules
- Lead make versus buy analysis and assess outsourcing opportunities for machining, fabrication, and finishing services
- Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier documentation, and contract compliance
- Utilize ERP systems to manage purchasing workflows, inventory planning, and demand forecasting
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
- 5 or more years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of raw materials and processes including machining, plating, powder coating, anodizing, and metal fabrication
- Proven experience in supplier negotiations, contract management, and cost reduction initiatives
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as Epicor and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with supplier performance management, vendor scorecards, and procurement analytics
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills in a production-driven environment
- Experience with production scheduling and manufacturing planning processes
- Knowledge of compliance standards such as DFARS, RoHS, and REACH
- Experience with global sourcing, international suppliers, and supply chain optimization
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and Six Sigma methodologies
- Professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, or APICS credentials
