About Wyalusing Area School District

Wyalusing Area School District is a small, rural district in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, serving about 1,200 students in an elementary school and a junior-senior high school both located on one campus. We recently renovated our high school, and we take pride in how our buildings, grounds, and athletic facilities look and work. Our staff and community care about their schools, and we are looking for someone who will help us take care of them.

About

the role

The Director of Facilities supervises and/or administers all aspects of vendor contract management and facilities, and makes sure the District meets established local, state, and federal standards. The Director manages our contracted custodial, maintenance, and grounds services, works with contractors on capital projects, and helps keep our campus safe and ready for students every day. This position works closely with the Superintendent, the Business Manager, our principals, and the Board's Buildings and Grounds Committee.

  • Oversee preventive maintenance, and set and carry out maintenance schedules for the District, including long-range planning and regular walk-throughs of the buildings and grounds
  • Act as the liaison with contractors: request and approve bids, manage contract progress, and work with construction managers, architects, and engineers on capital and site projects
  • Act as purchasing agent for operational materials: secure bids and pricing, interview vendors, secure quotes, authorize purchases, and recommend minor and capital expenses
  • Prepare and coordinate bid packages with the Business Manager for maintenance equipment, materials, and services
  • Assume legal and financial oversight for all projects involving subcontractors
  • Assist with budget development and long-range planning for buildings, grounds, maintenance, and personnel, and report to the Superintendent and the Board's Buildings and Grounds Committee
  • Ensure compliance with all annual inspections related to the operation of the District, and serve on the Safety Committee
