1st Shift - Inventory Group Lead

• Work on the shop floor with daily work area assignments determined by the Material Control Supervisor based on business need.
• Ensure proper training and onboarding of new hires and employees within the department.
• Complete rotations across different assignments, areas, shifts, and interact with manufacturing departments to gain a well‑rounded experience.
• Work on every part of the Material Control area, learning from all supervisors and demonstrating knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined in the Job Skill Checklist.
• Own Material Inventory – maintain inventory accuracy, presentation, material usage at line site, and manage Receiving/Shipping.
• Track inventory controls such as negative over‑hand, open transfer orders, and cycle counts.
• Execute supervisor tasks under supervision while receiving feedback.
• Seek out subject‑matter experts when necessary to ensure line‑item sign‑off.
• Attend one coaching session per week with a Member of the Mentorship Team (Material Control Supervisor).
• Present challenges encountered to each session for workshop with the mentorship team.
• Complete all items on the Job Skill Checklist with sign‑off.
• Learn all line sections – Front Walls, SAM, Sidewalls, Floors/Scuffs/Lining, Rear Frames, Roofs, Doors, End of Line, and MOD Center.
• Learn from indirect departments – Human Resources, Maintenance, Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Fabrication, Purchasing, IT, and Quality.
• Acquire knowledge, skills, and ability of Environmental Health and Safety.
• Understand Cardinal Safety Rules, the purpose of the Safety Committee, and its members.
• Develop leadership skills through mentorship.
• Acquire skills to conduct accident investigations, job hazard analyses, 5‑Why analyses, and Kaizen processes.
• Manage paperwork flow, department policies, and procedures.
• Track absenteeism and time‑keeping.
• Maintain regular and consistent attendance.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures.

Other duties as assigned. Some travel may be required to our Evansville and Brodhead facilities to support the Cycle Count team members.

• Preferred: a team lead with at least 6 months experience immediately preceding the program.
• Experience with a health and safety management system (e.g., VPP) – preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to plan 30‑ and 60‑day schedules and prepare for upcoming tasks.
• Experience using ERP/MRP and time‑keeping software in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in training and development – preferred.
• Background in a manufacturing environment – preferred.
• Ability to lead people and achieve results through others.
• Ability to think ahead and plan over a 30‑day horizon, preparing action plans to achieve results.
• Experience measuring performance against goals and standards – preferred.
• Ability to balance safety, quality, productivity, cost, and employee relations.
• Advanced computer skills (Syteline, Factory Track, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
