Description
Under the direction of the Paint Team Lead this position applies coats of powder to decorate and protect exterior surfaces of parts and frames. This position differs from level I in that the incumbent can and does regularly perform powder coating jobs tasks, and from level III in that it does not involve activities in support of the team lead including training, inventory, and enforcement of safety procedures.
The incumbent may be learning these tasks, but does not perform them regularly and/or independently.
- Reads work orders or receives instructions from supervisor regarding parts to be painted.
- Preheats parts to be painted using walk in ovens
- Selects premixed powder and portions to be used
- Follows standard operating procedure schedule to produce required painted loads each shift
- Assists in preparing parts to be painted
- Moves parts to various areas to be prepared, baked and/or dried
- Operates powder coating spray gun
- Keep drying ovens running on time
- Tape/foil parts not to be painted
- Chip racks and make hooks
- Put stock paint boxes away
- Reads work orders or receives instructions from supervisor or painter regarding parts to be painted
- Steam cleans parts to be painted
- Place parts on racks
- Empty baskets and put away parts
- Chip hooks and racks as needed
- Keep floor free of water
- Inspect equipment for areas that were missed at grinding
- Assists in grinding department as needed
- Regular and reliable attendance
- Keep area clean and organized
- Follow safety procedures and instructions
- Maintain productivity throughout shift
- Work quickly and accurately with minimal mistakes
- Have all necessary tools required at your work station and in proper working condition
- Other jobs or projects as assigned
- Meet the daily production schedule as provided by supervision

Education:- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- External applicant: 4 to 6 years related experience and/or training.
- Internal applicant: 6 months training within the paint department
- Ability to wear and use respirators
- Knowledge of powder coating process, tools, and materials
- Organizational skills

- Ability to work overtime
